A native of Buffalo, New York, Georgine Stark appeared as soloist in numerous Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony performances with The Hawaii Symphony Orchestra and mesmerized Honolulu audiences in the Handel Gloria, Mozart Requiem, Mozart Exsultate Jubilate, Bach Mass in B Minor, Bach Cantata 51, Jauchzet Gott in allen Landen and in the Monteverdi Vespers of 1610. She also performed as soloist with members of the Hawaii Symphony in Samuel Barber’s Dover Beach and Ned Rorem’s Mourning Scene. She recently made her debut performance with the Diamond Head Theatre's production of Terrance McNally's play Masterclass, playing the role of Sophie DePalma.
Georgine was a featured soloist in Handel’s Messiah, Bach’s Magnificat and Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with The Honolulu Symphony, Giovanna in Hawaii Opera Theatre’s production of Rigoletto. Following a performance as soloist with the symphony in J.S. Bach’s St. Matthew Passion, The Honolulu Advertiser wrote, “...fine singing by Georgine Stark...performed brilliantly. As Kate in Hawaii Opera Theatre's production of The Pirate's of Penzance, a critic of The Honolulu Star Bulletin wrote: "the prude but passionate Georgine Stark, enlivened the performance.” And as Mercedes in HOT’s production of Carmen, “Stark did excellent work.”
She performed the title role in Carmen and Kate Pinkerton in Madame Butterfly, both New York City productions. As soloist for the Abendmusiken Concert Series in Honolulu she performed Bach Cantatas 4, 17, 32 and 142. She has appeared as soloist in all of Bach’s major works, over 40 Bach cantatas and in large sacred works by Mozart, Handel, Faure, and Britten. She also performs in concert with Early Music Hawaii on Oahu and Hawaii island.
Ms. Stark has also appeared with Chamber Music Hawaii, the Bach Chamber Orchestra, Early Music Hawaii Orchestra, the Lund Swedish New Chamber Orchestra, the Whole Noyse, and the Rose Consort of Viols. She also worked with Sir David Willcocks as soprano soloist in Mozart’s Vesperae di Dominica.
Her future engagements includes guest soloist for the First Monday Concert Series at the Lutheran Church of Honolulu (March 2025) and Early Music Hawaii performances.
Georgine received a Master Degree from The Peabody Conservatory and studied voice with Phyllis Bryn-Julson and Sharon Spinetti. She also participated in the American Institute of Musical Studies (AIMS) in Graz, Austria. Georgine performs in concerts with her husband, Darel, violinist, as “The Stark Duo”, showcasing works written for voice and violin. She enjoys teaching voice at the Iolani School, appearing as background extra in national & international film such as “Jurassic World”, Oliver Stone’s film “Snowden” and a number of Hallmark movies. Georgine has also appeared as a recurring nurse in season one and two of the Disney Plus series, "Doogie Kamealoha M.D." She can also be seen on episodes of "Rescue: HI Surf", "Magnum P.I.", "NCIS: Hawaii", and “Hawaii Five-O”. In addition to performing on stage and screen Georgine enjoys homeschooling and performing with her two rather talented children.
